Thanks to North Beckton Schoolchildren who this week took part in a photoshoot for the Newham Mag. They showed that 150 balloons represents the noxious gas emitted from just 1 minute of car idling outside our schools. If we can reduce the number of school run vehicles and unnecessary idling on our local high streets we will improve local air pollution for our
most vulnerable children. Newham are aiming to adopt anti idling regulations later this year and there will be more engagement on this.
Newham encourage all schools to use the downloadable curriculum activities and video links on 20th June to raise awareness. The Mayor is encouraging ward councillors to contact their local schools to see if they can join in on air pollution awareness activities on Clean Air Day.
