Outline

This essential and practical training day is provided for all Head teachers and Senior Staff who are leading or supporting the process of PERMANENT EXCLUSIONS in their school.

This is STATUTORY training for school Governors, who are leading or likely to lead on Governors’ Disciplinary Committees (DC) in schools and/or on Independent Review Panels (IRP). Such training is provided every 2 years, as required in exclusions legislation in England.

Description

The day will cover:

What’s new? - The law and current statutory guidance about fixed term and permanent exclusions from school. Reasons for exclusion. National and local statistics.
Practice and procedure - Who needs to know what, when and why. Local Authority provision of education for day 6 provision. Responsibilities for SEND, LAC and vulnerable children. Judicial review principles.
Powers and processes - Avoiding legal challenges. Specific roles and exemplary practice in a DC and in an IRP meeting.
Context for your decisions - School Behaviour policy, the Equalities and Human Rights Acts and related guidance to avoid permanent exclusions.

Booking Information

Training for Academies, Free Schools and Private Childcare Provisions is charged at: £50 + VAT per person to attend a half-day course and £90 + VAT per person to attend a full -day course.

Local Authority Schools will not be charged.

If your school has an SLA with BSS, you may be entitled to a place at training for free!
